Let’s Start supports House Bill 612 and 613 to modify the eligibility for food stamp assistance. Currently, Missouri is one of only 14 states that do not allow people with drug convictions access to food stamps. Without access to food stamps, families struggle to secure their basic needs after release from prison. HB612 and HB 613 will modify this provision and allow persons with drug convictions access to food stamp benefits.
Let’s Start Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator, Cynthia Stevenson-Johnson, testified in support of HB 612 and 613 in front of the House Progress and Development Committee.
