These 13 women have found the ability to live drug-free and crime-free lives. In this unique book they tell their stories.
For years, many of these women have struggled alone until they found their way to a group called Let’s Start. It serves as a lifeline for these women, empowering them and enabling them to achieve things beyond their own dreams and expectations. They now enrich the lives of others through advocacy, education, and sharing their stories. Their life stories provide hope for readers from all backgrounds.
Author Rachel Lang Elliott and Photographer Nancy Lebbing bring each of these women to life on the page. Their words and pictures capture the true spirits of these women and give them a voice.

The quote above is actually a composite, taken from the stories of four women. The fact that their words fit together so seamlessly makes obvious the commonality among women who have lived with addiction and incarceration.
Let's Start is a process dedicated to assisting women in transition from prison life to society. It is unique in that it is coordinated by women who themselves have been through the criminal justice system.
ABOUT A CHANGE weaves together the experiences of 20 different Let's Start women into one common story, to paint the past and present of one individual incarcerated woman.
